It’s a great illustration of “righteous indignation.” Jesus was angry with the condition of the temple. He let it show and it made an impact. Artists throughout church history have attempted to depict the scene.

“Go get ‘em, Jesus!” is our typical response. Those businesses of exploitation and extortion deserved to be trashed!

Then we dig deeper. We discover the real story is about us. And it is related to our answers to a couple of simple questions: “Why did you come to church today?” and “What did you bring?”
